This is a gorgeous example of the vintage Panerai 3646 with California dial and Rolex caliber 618 movement from the early 1940s. The dial is in excellent condition, nice blued hands, and the original crystal is in very good condition.. Within the entire serial number sequence of the reference 3646, we differentiate between seven different variations (3646 / Type A – Type G). The photo on the left shows a Ref. 3646 / Type E with “California Dial”, which is featured in chapter II.V (page 544-551).
The Panerai California Dial features Arabic and Roman numerals on opposite sides of the dial, along with bar indexes and a minute track, all of which are reminiscent of Ref 3646 from the Maison's archives.
