A little while back I did come across a watch of theirs that claimed to have a "Revue Thommen exclusive movement" which piqued my interest a little, but I soon gave up as finding out what that really meant was like trying to nail a jelly to the wall. I’ve recently acquired an interest in the Revue Thommen Airspeed Automatic. Seems to have decent specs. Any thoughts out there on the brand, reliability and build quality?
Pilots watches can be busy, but the Revue Thommen is simple. It has the time, day and date. I'm tempted to suggest that this piece has more in common with military watches than with classic pilots watches like the Rolex GMT-Master and Breitling Navitimer. Either way, I like what they've done here. Breitling has a 7750 and it goes for K, K used. I'm sure Invicta has some 7750s but I really dislike that brand. I wish they had a display back though. Model: Revue Thommen Airspeed Automatic model no. 6110005B (B suffix denotes s/s bracelet). Movement: 25.6mm dia., 5.05mm high base calibre ETA 2836-2 (derived from 2824-2) modified with date hand, 25 jewels, bi-directional ball-bearing mounted rotor, 28,800 vph, Incabloc shock protection, 38 hour power reserve, Etachron fine-timing device.So for anyone doing some research on modern day Revue Thommen watches, hopefully this mini review will help with your decision-making of whether to get one or not. I ended up buying one of their new Diver GMT watches with an awesome, perhaps slightly trendy, green .
